When a loved one passes away, it can leave those left behind with an empty feeling in their heart. One way to try to move on is to find a personal way to honour the life of the person who passed. It can be therapeutic to think about the good things that the person who passed accomplished and what causes were important to them. Maybe they spent time volunteering at an animal shelter or had a favorite park where they went fishing. There are many ways that loved ones can keep the memory of their loved one close to their heart and continue to share their spirit with others.

Memorial Plaque or Bench
One way to honour the memory of a loved one is to donate a monetary gift in the name of the loved one to their favorite cause. Many organizations accept these donations and will display a plaque of some kind with the memorial on it. In some areas parks, benches, or recreation equipment can be donated. This is a great way to keep the spirit of the loved one in the community alive and positive.

Sometimes when a loved one passes, life can feel lonely. One way that some people have kept their loved one's memory close is to have custom jewelry created from objects close to the one that passed. It could be a locket containing a picture or even a lock of hair from the deceased. Some companies can even produce rosary beads from the flowers at a funeral or memorial service.

Memorial Events
At some time in our lives we may lose a loved one to a disease or illness that affects much of the world like heart disease or cancer. When a loved one passes from a cause like this, many times family or friends will honour their life by participating in a run or race that is meant to raise money for research. It can be therapeutic to participate in a cause that may prevent another family from facing the same loss that you did. Many participants wear their loved one's name on their body during their race to honour their life and encourage others to donate money in their name.

Even though losing someone close to you is one of the hardest things a person can go through, it can ease the hurt to find a way to personally honour the life of that loved one. It can help with healing the heart and even make other people's lives better in some cases.
